About this blog
The aim of this blog is to help you practise your listening skills by listening to news reports. There are three stages for each activity:
- Before listening – you will be asked to think about the audience and predict what you think the article will be about
- During listening – you will have a series of questions to help you understand the text and to pick out key information
- After listening – You will be asked to comment on the article and compare your answers
Learning is a social process. In order to complete the tasks on this website, you have the option to work together with other students and share your thoughts and ideas by using the comments section at the bottom of each page. We recommend that you use this as much as you can.
Discussion
The first task I would like you to do is very easy. Write a brief introduction about yourself. Use the prompts to help you:
1. Who are you and where are you from?
2. Where did you hear about this website?
3. What did you do on your last holiday?
Feel free to read and comment on other people’s introductions in order to get to know them better
